Where to donate items in Seattle, beyond Goodwill
A Quick Reference For Donation Decisions
As a professional home organizer in Seattle, I help clients clear space and let go of items they no longer need. While I have a couple of go-to donation centers for these unwanted items, they’re not always the right destination for every item. I often look for organizations that are conveniently located, support causes that matter to my clients, or can make good use of items that aren't commonly accepted elsewhere.
After one too many searches for the same information, I decided to create this resource: a non-exhaustive list of some of the organizations in and around Seattle that accept donations of various items. Whether you're decluttering a garage, downsizing a home, or preparing for a move, this guide can help you find a local organization that will put your gently used items to good use.
It's also a good idea to take a few minutes to prepare items before donating. Check clothing for stains or damage, empty all pockets, and wash items if needed. Household goods should be wiped down and free of excessive dust or dirt. When possible, pack donations in bags or bins that you no longer need, making them easier to transport and drop off.
Here’s a list of some resources for donating, organized loosely from North to South:
